Code of Conduct and Code of Meeting Practice

These internal controls are key planks of our governance framework.

The  doc format Code of Meeting Practice (417.50 KB) sets out how Council and Committee meetings should operate.

The doc format Code of Conduct (315.00 KB) exists to help staff and Councillors understand the standards of behaviour and performance that are expected of them. It enables them to fulfil their statutory duty to act honestly and exercise a reasonable degree of care and diligence and to act in a way that enhances public confidence in the integrity of local government.

If you would like to refer a matter concerning the improper conduct of a Councillor then you should notify the General Manager.  If your matter concerns the conduct of the General Manager then you should notify the Mayor.

The Local Government Act 1993 requires every council to adopt a  Code of conduct that incorporates the provisions of The Model Code of Conduct for Local Councils in NSW.

Councillors, members of staff and delegates of the Council must comply with the applicable provision of Council's adopted Code of Conduct. It is the personal responsibility of Council officials to comply with the standards in the Code and regularly review their personal circumstances with this in mind. Council contractors and volunteers will also be required to observe the relevant provisions of Council's Code of Conduct.

All notifications under the Code of Conduct must be in writing and addressed to either the General Manager or Mayor. Notifications can be emailed to wsc@wyong.nsw.gov.au, faxed to (02) 4351 2098 or posted to PO Box 20, Wyong NSW 2259.
