Water Main works – Main Road, Toukley

19 Jan 2012

Council will be carrying out essential water main works in Main Rd Toukley bounded by the intersections of Yaralla Road and Canton Beach Road.

Crews will start replacing the existing water main on Monday 23 January 2012.  This work will be carried out between 3.30pm and 4.00am daily, and is expected to take three weeks to complete.

Council’s Acting Manager Water and Sewer, Daryl Mann, said the works would cause minimal disruption to businesses and residents.

“Council has been liaising with local businesses to ensure business-as-usual operations, and residents in nearby streets will have no interruptions to their water supply,” he said.

“Residents should be aware of some short-term changes to pedestrian footpaths, parking  zones, and access to bus and postal services.”

Footpaths in the area will be narrowed as a result of the works, however pedestrians can continue to use the paths as usual. There will be some parking restrictions in place, with less parking space available in the affected area.

The bus stop and postal box located in the area will be moved 30 metres north of their current location. There will be no interruptions to local bus services and buses will be operating to their timetables. The bus stop and postal box will be moved back to their original location by Friday 27 January.

While there is expected to be no impact on local residents, surrounding streets may experience incidences of discoloured water. As a precaution, residents and businesses in Toukley should check tap water before washing clothes.

Further information about managing discoloured water can be found on the Council website (www.wyong.nsw.gov.au) by selecting My Property/Water.

Council apologises for any inconvenience and it is expected the water main work will be completed by mid-February 2012.
