Bill and his wife Valarie, have lived in Wyong Shire for 32 years, where they have raised five daughters.
After 24 years in Budgewoi and Gorokan, the family moved to Gwandalan in 1999.
Bill’s occupation as a Civil Building Inspector bought him to the area in 1977 and he elected to remain here and pursue his career as a Building Contractor and Consultant.
During this period Bill was also the owner-operator of a retail business in Toukley (12 years) and during this time spent five years as the president of the Toukley and District Chamber of Commerce.
Following on his community involvement, Bill was employed by the Department of Juvenile Justice as a Mentor and Youth Community Work Supervisor for three years.
More recently he has moved back to concentrate on consulting to the construction industry as a Supervisor and Project Manager for major civil engineering projects across Australia.
His many roles as President or Chairman of local School, Precinct, Arts and Charity committees have been a natural progression to the position of Councillor, a role he will apply himself to for the next four years.
Councillor Symington is a member of Wyong Shire's
Consultative, Sports, Governance
and Community Liaison committees and is a delegate
to the Gosford Wyong Councils'
Water Authority
Board.
