The Local Environmental Plan (LEP) outlines what development is allowed in each zoning and special provisions. The plan includes definitions to give you a greater understanding of what is uses and building types are allowed on your land, and also include planning controls that may apply to a particular site, such as properties that have a heritage listing.
Planning Reforms implemented by the NSW State Government require each council in NSW to prepare a new LEP, which is consistent with a Standard Instrument. It's proposed that the draft LEP will be placed on public exhibition by mid 2012 and anticipated that it will be adopted by either late 2012 or early 2013.
A Shirewide Settlement Strategy is being prepared and provides an opportunity for land use activities which have previously been prohibited or discouraged to be considered in appropriate locations.
The LEP is supported by Wyong Shire Council's 2005 Development Control Plan (DCP), which gives additional details on particular development types. The DCP is also under review and it's proposed that the revised draft will be placed on public exhibition during 2012.
