Support for landcare
The Wyong Shire currently boasts 24 active environmental care groups including Landcare, Bushcare, Dunecare and Rivercare.

Together they have more than 200 hard working volunteer members who carry out environmental repair work all around our Shire, often contributing some 400 hours each month.

The tasks and challenges they undertake are as diverse as the variety of environments they work in. These range from our award-winning beaches and coastline to the hinterland in rainforest and wetlands.

Some of our longest serving groups include Budgewoi Beach Dunecare, Bateau Bay Bushcare, and Ourimbah Creek Landcare which have been active for about seven years.

Council employs a Landcare coordinator to support all the environmental groups and recently agreed to fund all their public liability insurance when they are working in the Shire.

The environmental groups are always on the lookout for more support and new members.

Anyone interested in joining a group near to them can contact Wyong Council's Landcare Coordinator on (02) 4350 5444 or email landcare@wyong.nsw.gov.au

Wyong Shire Council acknowledges all support it receives toward natural resource management. Corporate supporters such as Delta Electricity, provide much-needed assistance for environmental projects.
