The arts and cultural spotlight regularly shines on Wyong Shire.
Events seem to multiply each year and more than 100 organisations and small businesses are actively engaged in a range of activities.
Other highlights
Highlights of the area's cultural life include:
- The traditional owners’ have lived on the Central Coast for thousands of years and the area is one of the richest in Australia for Aboriginal rock art
- Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council is based in Wyong township
- Heritage assets including Alison Homestead Museum, Norah Head Lighthouse and Hargraves House
- Brackets & Jam North
- Toukley Rotary Club's Central Coast Festival of the Arts
- Wyong Shire Council Photographic Competition
- Wyong-based theatre groups that have up to six productions each year
- Central Coast Country Music Festival at The Entrance, which attracts about 25,000 visitors each year
- Gathering of the Clans at Toukley, which attracts about 15,000 visitors each year
Lakeside Art Shopfront Studio and Gallery
The Lakeside Art shopfront space is now open with resident artists Amanda Anderson, Catherine Stanley, Kathleen Watson and Nadia Zarb. Pop in to see their artworks or to find out about workshops.
Lakeside Art is part of Wyong Shire Council's Creative Enterprise Program, partnering with business and community to support the sustainable development of artists and designers by turning empty shopfronts into galleries for creative people. Art can be viewed at
3/96 The Entrance Rd, The Entrance, between the hours of 10am to 4pm, Thursday to Sunday.
This project is partnership with Lakeside Plaza Shopping Centre.
