Services for Children
Wyong Shire Council owns and operates centres for children from birth to six years of age.
Located at various sites across the Shire, all centres are open between 7am and 6pm each weekday for 50 weeks of the year (closing only over Christmas and New Year).

The centres accommodate the needs of individual children in a fun and welcoming environment which promotes an enjoyment of learning, cooperative play and social development.
Council is committed to these six childcare centres as they set a benchmark for quality of care in the industry.
All centres are accredited by the National Childcare Accreditation Council which sets quality assurance systems for long day care centres across Australia.
The accreditation process ensures that children in long day care have stimulating, positive experiences and interactions which help them learn and develop and help to expand their thinking and language.
All centres are also licensed by the NSW Department of Community Services which ensures they provide safe and appropriate care as well as an educational environment for children. Licensing conditions also set appropriate staff to child ratios, staff qualification levels, building requirements, and health and safety needs.
Council centres are all "Sun Smart" centres, as approved by NSW Health. This ensures they provide children and staff with hats, sun screen, shade areas and other sun protective policies.
In addition, Wyong Shire Council childcare centres provide:
- A free speech pathology service (funded by NSW Health) to help with language and communication skills
- Ongoing staff training and professional development
- A range of play and learning activities including craft, language, music, drama and science to help develop fine motor, gross motor and cognitive (thinking) skills
- Programs to help prepare children for school
- A qualified cook and nutritious meals
- Separate rooms and play areas for younger and older children
- Support for children with additional needs and early intervention requirements
- Regular parent newsletters.
Federal Government childcare benefits may also be available to help reduce fees. Contact Centrelink on 136 150.
