Kanwal Pre-School and Children's centre was established in January 1996.

It's located in a quiet street with easy access to public transport and a small shopping area.

As a 59-place centre, it offers separate rooms and play areas for children of different age groups – for 0-3 year olds and 4-5 year olds. This helps staff to better plan and deliver play and learning activities which are tailored to the children’s differing needs and abilities.

The outdoor play area is also divided to cater for older and younger children. Both play areas are very spacious and have shady areas and weather proof undercover areas.

To enhance the children’s learning they are all allocated a focus teacher who monitors their development and plans for their individual requirements.

Older children benefit from a year round school readiness program which encourages them to be challenged and to have more independence. The program is developed in consultation with staff from Kanwal Public School to ensure that the school preparation is relevant and valuable.

The school readiness program is implemented by trained and experienced staff which ensures that the transition to school is a smooth one for children and their families.

Staff at Kanwal have many years of childcare and education experience and have been part of the centre’s team for a long time. Professional development is offered on a regular basis to ensure staff keep up to date with new information and research.

Families are welcome to visit the centre and participate in the many events and information sessions held throughout the year.
