Community Matching Fund Program

The Community Matching Fund Program is now open and submissions close on Friday 2 March 2012.

For further information please contact (02) 4350 5214.

This fund aims to increase the active participation of community members, support the development and implementation of community-driven initiatives and address local infrastructure improvements.

In turn, this will lead to healthier and stronger communities. The focus of these initiatives is at a neighbourhood level.

With this program, it is important to remember and appreciate that the process of bringing together a community/neighbourhood to complete a project is as important as the project itself. The development and strengthening of relationships at a local level is vital in the quest to improve the health, well being and sustainability of a community and achieving the objectives of the Community Strategic Plan in creating community connectedness.

This fund will enable community groups, both formal and informal, to realise goals and initiatives within their neighbourhoods, while not relying entirely on government funding.

The concept of matched funding allows Council to support local priorities while encouraging communities to become self driven and sustainable.

The Community Matching fund requires a community contribution of $10,000 towards a project and can offer a 2 for 1 match of this contribution. For example a group contributing $10,000 is eligible for up to $20,000 support to match this contribution. The maximum Council contribution is $75,000 per project.
