Workshops for Parents

Graduated Licensing Scheme

Wyong and Gosford councils’ hold four workshops each year for parents and supervisors of learner drivers.

The Graduated Licensing Scheme (GLS) workshop, ‘Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers’, is based on the NSW licensing scheme. This requires learner drivers to have at least 120 hours of supervised practice in a wide variety of situations, including a minimum of 20 hours night time driving.

The workshop covers:

  • planning the supervision of learner drivers
  • information about the changes to L and P plate requirements and restrictions
  • tips for completing the Log Book for learners and the benefits of driving practice
  • providing constructive feedback
  • tips for dealing with the emotional side of teaching and learning to drive

Feedback from parents and supervisors who have attended the course has generally been positive.
