Safe Celebrations and Trip Planning
A campaign to reduce the amount of drink-driving is underway on the Central Coast with the aim to encourage people to leave their car behind when they head off on a night out.
Wyong Shire and Gosford City Councils are promoting the use of Transport Information Cards, which explain the transport options available in both areas late at night. Both PDF and Word versions are available for download below.
The cards cover trains, buses and taxis and also include a list of Central Coast entertainment venues that provide late night courtesy buses for patrons.
Central Coast Safe Party Pack
Following the success of last year’s Safe Party Pack, Wyong Shire and Gosford City Councils’ Road Safety Officers have again produced a ‘Central Coast Safe Party Pack’ (CCSPP) targeted at young people (17 – 25 years) and their parents who are holding parties at home or a hired venue.
The aim of the CCSPP is to assist residents in planning a safe party and reduce driver, passenger and pedestrian related death and injury, particularly among young people.
Council has requested local businesses to extend a discount for party-related goods and/or services. Discount vouchers will be offered to residents as an incentive to request a CCSPP.
The project has been funded by both Councils for the 2011-12 financial year. There are 300 CCSPP available for distribution in the Wyong Shire and will be available from 28 November 2011 until the end of June 2011 (depending on stock availability).
The CCSPPs are available from our Customer Contact, who can be contacted on (02) 4350 5555.
For additional information contact our Road Safety Officer on (02) 4350 5232 or email at wsc@wyong.nsw.gov.au.
