From time to time, Australia's east coast experiences bushfires, savage electrical storms and flooding.
Wyong Shire Council has joined the NSW Fire Brigade and the NSW Rural Fire Service in presenting
safety tips (439.23 KB) to help people manage the risk of bush blazes.
It's also possible to easily check fire danger ratings, as well as see where bush fires are burning in NSW.
Check UV ratings
And, even if it's not an emergency, before you go out in the sun, it's still a good idea to check UV rates and see what precautions are recommended.
Storms
Electrical storms are more common from October to the end of March, but it is important to stay ready all year round. See these safety guidelines from the NSW State Emergency Service (SES).
Flooding
It's also important to be aware of flood risks where you live, work or have property.
Check if the Bureau of Meteorology has issued an official flood warning for your area.
Emergency warnings
Keep abreast of the latest weather alerts from the Bureau of Meteorology.
And, either see weather forecasts for the next four days or check your local rain radar.
The Bureau of Meteorology also provides a range of satellite information and images from the World Meteorological Organization's World Weather Watch system.
