Shire
Strategic Vision - a sneak preview of the future
Wyong Shire residents are
invited to view the Shire
Strategic Vision.
Work began on the 20 year vision for the Shire in
early 2008 when Council first went to the community
and asked - as a community do we want to continue to
do the same things in the future for similar results?
The Community Liaison Group established to work on
the project provided the Community Vision Statement
that would guide the Vision: "Creating Our Ideal
Community caring... prosperous... sustainable."
Wyong Mayor, Bob Graham, said the Vision has been
formulated with the community and is based on the community’s
own aspirations and visions.
“The key to the vision is the eight priority
objectives that have been identified for us to work
hard towards over the next 20 years to bring about
significant improvements to the quality of life in
the Shire.
“Under each objective a number of strategies
are also outlined that show how we can start to achieve
the Vision,” Cr Graham said.
The eight priority objectives:
In the future Wyong Shire will be a place where:
- Communities
will be vibrant, caring and connected
- There will
be ease of travel
- Communities will have access to
a range of facilities, and services
- Areas of natural
value in public and private ownership will be enhanced;
- There will be a sense of community ownership of
the natural environment
- There will be a strong sustainable
business sector
- Information communication technology
will be world's best
- The community will be well educated,
innovative and creative.
The Vision is presented in a narrative style that
makes the document very accessible.
“It’s a wonderfully creative break from
the traditional style of such documents and it is easy
for people to relate to,” Cr Graham said.
As well as this site, the vision document is on
exhibition at the Council Chambers,
local libraries and at
selected shopping centres over the next two months.
