Tenders Issued for Mardi-Mangrove Link
Tenders have been called for construction
of the Mardi-Mangrove Link water pipeline.
Four experienced construction companies have been
invited to tender for the work.

Ltd
- Jemena Pty Ltd
- John Holland Pty Ltd
- McConnell Dowell Pty Ltd
The four companies have
28 days to submit a tender. A decision on the successful
contractor is then due
to be made in mid-December.
This is the second stage in the tender process. It
follows the call for Expressions of Interest in July
when the four companies were shortlisted from a total
of 16 contenders.
The four companies have been working with Gosford
City and Wyong Shire Councils in recent months to obtain
more information about the Project and also help to
refine the tender documents.
Wyong Shire Mayor Bob Graham said this was another
big milestone for the Mardi-Mangrove Link Project.
“Once again we are moving closer to the construction
phase of this Project,” he said.
“This is another milestone step for us. Calling
formal tenders is a significant undertaking. From there
we will appoint a construction contractor to help us
build this major water infrastructure project.
“A lot of work has gone into the tender process
so far. The documents and specifications are very comprehensive
and a number of workshops have been held with the four
shortlisted companies over recent months.
“Now is the time when the four companies will
formally tell us what they can do for us.”
Gosford City Mayor Chris Holstein said both the Councils
and the tenderers had all worked very hard to get to
this stage.
“The past few months has involved many hours
input from both the Councils’ staff and the tenderers,“ he
said.
“But because the Mardi-Mangrove Link is such
a significant project we all need to invest the time
up front so that we get a good result down the track.
“There are many facets to this project. It is
complex and far reaching. The tender process therefore
needs to be very detailed and thorough.
”From here, we will hopefully be able to appoint
an experienced and capable contractor.”
The Mardi-Mangrove Link Project involves building
two new pipelines, two new pump stations and associated
works. It will help to secure the Central Coast water
supply system over the next four decades by linking
Wyong River to Mangrove Creek Dam via Mardi-Dam.
Construction work on the Project is due to start in
early 2010. It is scheduled for completion and commissioning
by mid-2011.
The Mardi-Mangrove Link Project is a joint initiative
of Wyong Shire and Gosford City Councils, with Federal
Government funding of $80.3 million through the Water
Smart Australia Program.
