Tree of Knowledge a highlight
of new office
A giant 'Tree of Knowledge' will be
one of the highlights of a new library and Council office,
scheduled to open at Lake Haven later this month.
Finishing touches are being added to the office and
the library, which is located in the Lake Haven shopping
centre.
Wyong Mayor, Neil Rose, who will officially open the
new facility on Monday 16 September, said the 'Tree
of Knowledge', which features actual tree branches,
would be a striking feature of the children's section
of the new library.
"Children will be able to sit beneath the tree
and soak up the knowledge and information surrounding
them.
"The feature is both eye-catching and symbolic
of the key role played by public libraries in community
education," Councillor Rose said.
Visitors to the Lake Haven office and library during
the opening week will be greeted by an array of celebrity
guests, including duel body boarding champion, Ben Holland;
film producer and writer, Michael Pate of The Mango
Tree and Tim; actor Christopher Pate of The Mango Tree;
poet Gary Lowe; authors Peter Yeldham, Stephen Lacey
and Anna Maria Dell'oso; and e-book publisher Dr David
Reiter.
As well, the Gorokan High School band will perform;
there'll be an Aboriginal Story Time session; Aboriginal
dancers from Wyong Public School; assorted singers and
musicials; and children's characters Wizzy Wally and
Percy Pelican.
Residents will be able to use the new Lake Haven Council
office and library seven days a week, with extended
hours each Thursday night.
