Sports Grounds

There are currently 31 Council Sportsgrounds in Wyong Shire. Sportsgrounds provide extensive, organised recreation settings specific to a particular activity. Existing facilities represent a considerable community investment.

Sport forms an integral and valuable component of people's lives. Enjoyable experiences can make an important contribution to the maintenance of health and feelings of personal satisfaction and well being. Sport creates opportunities for social networks, connect people to the wider community and help build local social capital as well as personal growth through physical, social and emotional development.

Grants

A number of grants are available that provide financial support for representative training and competition. Some of these grants are listed below.

Wyong Shire Council Sportsperson Programme

• This programme provides financial assistance for individuals and teams participating in competition at regional, state, and country level.
    
• Applicants must be Wyong Shire residents.
    
• Closing dates for this programme are July 30 2005, October 29 2005, January 31 2006, April 30 2006.
    
• Application forms are available from Wyong Shire Council's Sports Liaison Officer (02) 4350 5555.

CCROC Sporting and Cultural Sponsorship

• This programme provides financial assistance to individuals and teams participating in sporting and cultural events of regional, state, and national level.
    
• Applicants must be Central Coast residents.
    
• Application forms are available from Wyong Shire Council (02) 4350 5555 and Gosford City Council (02) 4325 8222.

Sports Committee

Wyong Shire Council has established a sports committee aimed at promoting the development of sport within the Shire. The Committee consists of community and Council representatives who meet once per month.
