Transforming the Central Coast

Wyong- A Key Growth Area

Wyong Shire is one of the fastest growing areas in NSW.  By 2031, an estimated 230,000 people will call Wyong Shire home. Where do we begin to plan for this growth and how do we ensure we maintain our enviable coastal lifestyle?

The key priorities that need to be addressed include the:

  • alarmingly high youth unemployment
  • low percentage of the Shire’s population attaining tertiary qualifications
  • lack of health services
  • inability to easily travel around the Shire.
Council has developed 39 projects and initiatives to transform Wyong Shire, create jobs and build vital infrastructure in the key areas of transport and roads; education; health; economic development and job creation; recreation and culture; environment, communications and community and water and waste water security. Details of the projects can be found here -

We need significant investment and funding from the State Government to address these key priorities and accommodate the substantial population growth expected for the Shire in the coming years.
