The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of NSW (IPART) has granted approval for Council to proceed with an increase to Ordinary Rates of 6.9% per year from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2017. For the average residential ratepayer, this will mean an increase, above the rate peg, of $30.39 in the first year, or around eight cents a day extra.
The increase includes the standard 3.4% increase applied to all NSW Councils in 2013/14 and, combined with lower than average increases for water and sewerage, will mean an overall average increase for all rates and charges of 3.85%.
