Events on the Central Coast

Business Events

Events such as conferences, trade days and exhibitions are commercially competitive and play a critical role in achieving tourism expenditure for regional areas such as the Central Coast. For local venues seeking assistance or guidance to grow their MICE business Council suggests seeking professional expertise via Business Events Sydney or utilising the resources supplied by Destination NSW in the NSW Regional Conferencing Strategy and Action Plan and the NSW Regional Conferencing Toolkit.

Further support from Council can be provided to business events via Tier 3 sponsorship funding, attendance of key Council staff at events or by providing letters of support for bids on events to be held in the region.

A Central Coast meeting and event planner is available online for event planners from outside the region who are looking for potential venues on the Central Coast to hold their event. This includes an extensive range of private venues located on the Central Coast and potential local suppliers to assist with catering and technical requirements.

Council also operates Laycock Street Theatre and the Peninsula Theatre which are both avilable for private corporate booking.

Community Events

These type of events can include a wide range of events that appeal to a broad spectrum of audiences and experiences. Council recognises the important role these events play in building a sense of community pride, social inclusion and tourism opportunities. For local event planners wishing to promote their event via Council channels you can register to list your event on Council's 'What's On' listings here and here.

Council also has a range of grant funding programs open for application throughout the year which are intended to support community initiatives including community events. Council also has a range of spaces available for hire via an online hall and venue finder and a park and sportsground finder.

Major Events

Major Events are a key component of the visitor economy for many regional destinations and Council is committed to developing and attracting major events to the Central Coast.

Council's Tier 1 and 2 sponsorship funding programs are open throughout the year for applications to assist event planners wishing to relocate an existing major event to the Central Coast or to grow regional events already occurring in the area.

Council also has a comprehensive guide for 'Running and Event' to help event planners through the process of running events on Council land.

Council also recommends that event planners of major events familiarise themselves with the resources and funding programs available via Destination NSW.
