Creative Art Central Launch event

Following on from the success of ART CENTRAL, Central Coast Council is proud to announce the launch of Creative Art Central – a partnership residency program open to professional artists and producers across the region.
 
Join us as we celebrate the creative work developed under The Art Central program, hear about Council's launch of Creative Art Central and discuss the Central Coast’s creative industry with a panel of local leaders from The Art House, NAISDA, Central Coast Conservatorium, Laycock Street Theatre, Gosford Regional Gallery and Central Coast Council's cultural programs.
 
This free event will be held on Thursday 26 April, 2018 at The Art House, 19-21 Margaret Street, Wyong from 5.30pm – 8.30pm.

Creative Art Central Applications

Central Coast Council is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for creative projects to be supported by Creative Art Central. The program seeks submissions from practicing artists and producers for Central Coast based projects that respond to the Creative Art Central
Brief, Aims and Selection Criteria set out in the guidelines.

Creative Art Central consists of a partnership residency program open to professional artists and all art forms whether they are part of an organization or operate as sole traders. Profit and not for profit agencies are welcomed to submit their expression of interest (EOI) by addressing ONE of the following three fields:

  • Creative Industries — for professional artists who are supported by producers, managers, directors, curators of spaces and buildings dedicated to showcasing professional works of art.
  • Creative Communities — for professional artists, who engaged, create, lead and produce creative works/projects that are place making in intent with the support of local communities.
  • Creative Wellbeing — for cultural practitioners who offer a service to individuals and/or small groups with an aim to address, promote and sustain wellbeing.
Submissions open: 5:00pm Monday 23 April 2018
Submissions close: 5.00pm Monday 25 June 2018
 
All EOIs must be submitted via the on-line application form.

Successful residencies will be announced in July 2018.

Creative Art Central is a Council led initiative that continues the legacy of Art Central. Art Central was a successful funding program that ran for seven years (2011-2017) in partnership with Create NSW and Regional Development Australia Central Coast.
 
Art Central  contributed to the development of the region as an arts destination and creative economy. Art Central provided strategic support to new creative initiatives that had region-wide impact and contributed to an evolving and diverse regional identity.
 
The outstanding results from this dynamic program include: 
  • 15 projects funded across 17 art forms including Digital Futures, Imprints, Art Whispers, Melon Grab, Footmarks, Spirit Land and Malinga
  • 142 new works produced
  • 270 artists employed
  • 708 community participants
  • an audience of more than 24,000 – with 10,000’s more on-line.

The Art House  

The Art House, The front of the Art House lit up at nightWyong is the Coast's newest arts venue showing an annual program of contemporary and performing arts.

Consisting of a 500 seat theatre, 130 retractable seat studio, exhibition foyer with bar and cafe and meeting room The Art House is for hire for productions, exhibitions, functions and events.

The Art House Ambassador Josh Horner

 The Art House Ambassador is Joshua Horner, a Wyong local who sarted dancing at the age of six and is now an international dancing star and choreographer.  More
