What’s On across the Coast these School Holidays?

In need of entertainment these school holidays? We run and support school holiday events across the Coast and have pulled together a great program of events and activities to keep the family entertained.

What's On at The Entrance

There will be free live entertainment and activities daily at The Entrance including dinosaur workshops, crocodile encounters, circus skills and monster bubbles. There will even be a special performance by our favourite gumboot-wearing ‘dirtgirl’ as she shows us how to get grubby and care for the environment.

What's On Green Living

Our Green Living Workshops are back – get your hands dirty and learn about the importance of sustainability. Test your Leaf Craft, paint and plant your own terracotta pot, learn about the wonders of mini ecosystems as you create your own take-home terrarium, learn fun facts about worm farming, make a garden box and help us make compost. In week two of the holidays, learn how to grow healthy food in 4 days, eat fresh live food you have grown in your kitchen and limit the waste generated in your household, by making your own laundry and bodycare products.

What’s On for our Youth

A fantastic program has been created by our Youth team including new workshops across technology, professional skills development, sports and creative. They also invite you to ‘Clip Up, Climb Up and Fun Up’ and test your skills on the 28 climbing walls with a morning tea for parents of participants. There are also interesting workshops in Graphic Design and Film Editing that you can be part of as well as Custom T-Shirt Design or Skateboard Deck Art Workshops to get your creative juices flowing.

What’s On at Central Coast Stadium

The Mighty Mariners Football Clinics are back at Central Coast Stadium for three days of football fun. The Mariners are excited to offer kids on the Coast an opportunity to have a kick on the pitch at Central Coast Stadium and meet the new Mariners players. The Clinics are focused on fun and no previous football experience is required. Places are strictly limited, so make sure you get in quick!

What’s On along the Coastline

We are truly blessed to live on the Coast - explore, discover and connect with our coastline through our Ecological Discovery Program. We are holding a number of whale watching talks where you can learn about these magnificent animals, their annual migration and hopefully spot a few on their journey north. There will also be guided explorations of our fascinating coastal environments with Ocean and Coastal Care Initiative guides. Explore local rock pools and learn about the fascinating creatures that live there.

SAVE THE DATE: After the holidays, let's build a Yellow-bellied Glider habitat

Doyle Street Bushcare invites the community to help plant trees for feeding and breeding sites for the Yellow-bellied Glider habitat at Doyle Street Reserve, Bensville (off The Scenic Road).
  • Meet Australian native animals, courtesy of Taronga Zoo mobile
  • Free BBQ breakfast for early arrivals
  • Plant, mulch and stake 1,000 native plants
  • Help the Rural Fire Service water the plants
  • Join a walk and check in nest boxes for Yellow-bellied gliders from 10am (limited places 20)
  • Join a bird walk to look for Swift Parrots at 9.30am with Dr Deb Saunders from the Australian National University – bring your binoculars
Date: Saturday 28 July
Time: 9am-12.30pm

Please wear gloves, closed-in footwear and clothing appropriate for the bush.
