EXPOSURE Photographic Prize

exposure-2017.jpg

Exposure is the Central Coast’s annual, acquisitive prize and public exhibition. The competition aims to promote the art of photography and to showcase still-based works. Amateur and emerging photographers are invited to enter and the competition is open nationally. Cash prizes are awarded to the most outstanding images with a pool totaling $4400. The Prize has grown over the past 4 years and 2017 will mark a number of advances.

A regional showcase
The Prize will become a major event on the Central Coast Arts Calendar moving outside the Wyong Shire to the wider region. Renowned local photographers have gained the industry’s attention and led the way for emerging talent. Central Coast Council recognises the importance of investing in the careers of local photographers. The Prize is used to help entrants develop their creative practice and produce works of an exhibition-standard. One award is geographically based to support resident photographers and attract visitors to our area.

Young photographers
This year The Prize aims to showcase and develop young photographers. In the past, entrants under the age of 24 years have represented 10% of finalists. They have shown works of an exceptional standard and have made a valued contribution. In 2017 there will be an additional $300 awarded to an Emerging Young Talent.

Art House, Wyong
To celebrate the expansion of The Prize, this year’s exhibition will be held at The Art House, Wyong. The Art House is a new cultural attraction and arts venue right in the heart of the Central Coast. 145 of the most outstanding images will be exhibited here during the public exhibition. Central to public transport and the Wyong CBD, as well as a calendar of commercial productions, gives finalists an opportunity to showcase works to a broader audience.
